The Special Immigrant Juveniles (SIJ) status has a general purpose of helping foreign children in the United States who have been abused, abandoned, or neglected. If a child is struggling to become reunited with a parent, they will be able to get an SIJ green card. If a child obtains a green card this way, they can live and work permanently in the United States. (1)
On November 16, USCIS made big changes when it centralized the Special Immigrant Juvenile (SIJ) program. So, if you are one of the people who have filled out a Form I-360 or Form I-485 application, the forms will be adjudicated at the National Benefits Center (NBC). The USCIS will still continue to require in-person interviews at local field offices to complete the adjudication at their own discretion. However, you must keep in mind that the current filing procedures will remain unchanged. (2)
